60 Artists Revamp 'Beds Are Burning' For Global Tck Tck Tck Climate Campaign

MOTHER EARTH (Hypebot) –
A rewritten version of the Midnight Oil hit "Beds are Burning" has been recorded by over 60 artists to raise awareness of climate change. The song is available for free download and at most global iTunes stores.

Part of the ongoing TckTckTck campaign to let world leaders know "the world is ready for an ambitious, fair, and binding climate deal in Copenhagen this December, the video is meant to serve as the world's first global musical petition.

The song was driven by one of the co-founders of the TckTckTck campaign, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's new organization, the Global Humanitarian Forum, and their partners global advertising giant Havas Worldwide and their French based film production arm The:Hours.

The 60 international musicians and celebrities involved include Duran Duran, Mark Ronson, Jamie Cullum, Melanie Laurent, Marion Cotillard, Milla Jovovich, Fergie, Lily Allen, Manu Katche, Bob Geldof, Youssou N’Dour, Yannick Noah and more.

To help the campaign and spread it globally, supporters are asked to:

  • Download the song for free from iTunes. Every download counts as part of the TckTckTck pledge.
  • Watch the video on YouTube : the more people see it, the higher profile
  • After you've seen it, favorite it, comment on it, and share with friends
  • Tweet it, post to your Facebook page, or your blog

The organizers are also asking supporters to join their email list and sign an "I am ready" pledge .

“Climate change is the greatest humanitarian challenge facing mankind today. And it is a challenge that has a grave injustice at its heart, says Mr. Anan. "It is the major developed economies of the world which contribute the overwhelming majority of global greenhouse emissions. But it is the poorer and least developed nations that are hit hardest by its impact. By downloading the song, people from around the world will add their names to this growing global petition, and together we will create such a noise our leaders will listen."
