Bluesfest…Laughs

OTTAWA, ON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest today confirmed a major new Comedy initiative at LeBreton Flats Park.

In addition to music programming, the festival is working with the Just for Laughs organization to feature comedy each day at its new Black Sheep Music and Comedy Tent.

Comics Wayne Brady, Louis C.K., and Lewis Black will all perform at the Bluesfest.

There will a themed show each evening including a ‘Relationship Show,’ an ‘Italian Show,’ a ‘Canadian Show,’ and an ‘X-Rated Show.’ The shows will feature a host and three stand-up comedians putting their own spin on a related theme each evening, similar to Just for Laughs according to the press release.

“The idea is simple – it's an attempt to attract a new audience to the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest,” says Bluesfest executive director, Mark Monahan.

“Ottawa is a great market for comedy. This has been demonstrated by sold-out comedy shows in Ottawa by some great comics in the past. At this point, there is no comedy festival operating in Ottawa. The Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal is considered the largest comedy festival in the world. They have recently expanded to Toronto and Chicago. There is clearly an opportunity to establish an exceptional comedy component at our festival, here in Ottawa," concludes Monahan. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
