TOOELE, UTAH (CelebrityAccess) — After 4 years, Country Explosion LLC, the organizer of the financially troubled Country Explosion Festival announced that the event was canceled for this year.
A press release on the festival's website offers little insight into the reasons for the festival's cancellation, stating "We will not be able to move forward this year because of circumstances beyond our control."
The statement said that ticketholders and vendors would be refunded in three phases, with the first phase of refunds going out by August, with the final phase being issued by the end of the year.
The festival has a history of financial issues and last year, some vendors claimed to not have been paid, and Tooele City, the Utah town that hosts the festival, claimed to have not received $60,000 it was owed.
As well, the festival faced litigation from country act Florida Georgia Line, who claimed that the festival was poorly run and that festival organizers did not pay them for their performance in 2014.
The 2015 edition of the festival was set for July 16-19 with an announced lineup that included Anita Cochran, Andy Griggs, Steve Azar and Jamie O’Neal. – Staff Writers
