Cuthbert Amp To Get Upgrades

EUGENE, OR (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Cuthbert Amphitheater in Alton Baker Park is getting a rehab that will see the shed get seating upgrades.

The amphitheater currently has old wooden bench seats that are more than 25 years old. The benches near the stage will be replaced with almost 1,300 forest-green all-weather stadium seats chairs and the venue's grass seating area will be expanded the Register-Guard reported.

Lawn seating will also be expanded at the venue and the remaining area will be terraced and turfed to create an aurea suitable for picnic blankets and short lawn chairs. The grass berm at the rear of the shed will remain.

"The grass is very, very popular," Eugene's Cultural Services Division director Mark Loigman told the Register-Guard "On a summer evening, there’s nothing better."

The seating will allow promoters to sell reserved tickets for events which had previously been challenging due to the bench seating.

The project is estimated to cost $220,000 and will be funded from Eugene's capital improvement budget and Hult Center operating funds with a completion date of May 1st. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
