BRANSON, MO (CelebrityAccess) — A former financial controller at the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre in Branson has plead guilty to filing a false tax return after embezzling more than $678,000 from the venue, federal prosecutors said.
According to the Springfield News-Reader, Dawn K. Cleveringa, 59, entered a guilty plea in federal court to the charges and waived her right to a jury. She faces a possible three years in prison and a fine of $250,000 as well as restitution.
Cleveringa served as controller of the theatre from 1992 to 2009 and was responsible for overseeing the venue's finances, including payroll and taxes.
The federal charges are in addition to penalties Cleveringa faced from the state. In 2012, she plead guilty to charges of embezzlement, theft and forgery, for which she was sentenced to 60 days in jail and five years probation, plus restitution. – Staff Writers
