LONDON (VIP-NEWS) — Glastonbury has been named the UK's best major festival at this year's UK Festival Awards.
The Somerset event was headlined this year by U2, Coldplay and Beyonce but is taking a break in 2012.
Bestival, which won the the best major festival prize last year, was named the 2011 fans' favourite.
The event is organised by Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank with this year's line-up including Bjork, The Cure, Pendulum, Public Enemy and PJ Harvey.
Ed Sheeran was named the breakthrough artist for his appearances over the summer, beating acts like Jessie J and The Vaccines.
Sonisphere, staged at Knebworth House, landed the best line-up prize following appearances from Biffy Clyro, Slipknot and Metallica.
Meanwhile, Paolo Nutini bagged the headline performance of the year gong for his performance at Latitude.
The Secret Garden Party in Cambridgeshire took the best medium-sized festival prize, while Dorset's End Of The Road was named best small festival.
Derbyshire's Y-Not Festival was a double winner, taking the prize for best "grass roots" festival and best toilets.
The awards were staged at London's Roundhouse.
