MINNEAPOLIS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Minneapolis City Council is scheduled to vote on a controversial proposal by the Hennepin Theatre Trust, Historic Theatre Group and Clear Channel Entertainment in mid-March.
The proposed joint partnership to run the Orpheum, Pantage and State theatres, would give CCE a 30-year consulting agreement to assist in booking Broadway shows. Day-to-day management would remain with the Historic and hennepin group, the current operators, according to a report by Minnesota Public Radio.
The process to hand off the city’s historic theaters has taken nearly two years, amid much controversy regarding closed-door negotiations with the joint groups, blocking out other outsider offers. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
