Live Earth Concert Supported By eBay.com

SAN JOSE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Internet auction giant eBay.com has announced that it has signed on as the authorized ticket resale provider for the U.S. leg of the seven-continent, 24-hour Live Earth concerts to be held on 7/7/07. eBay will also be working with Live Earth’s organizers to produce a series of high-profile charity auctions for autographed concert memorabilia and other items to benefit The Alliance for Climate Protection.

Tickets to the Live Earth concert at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. went on sale Monday, April 16th, and immediately began appearing on eBay.com. Ticket holders may legally resell their passes on the eBay Giving Works website, provided they donate at minimum of 20 percent of the final sale price to The Alliance for Climate Protection. Giving Works, eBay’s dedicated charity marketplace, generated more than $20 million in charitable contributions last year.

“Live Earth is about engaging an unprecedented audience to tackle the urgent challenge of global warming,” said Kevin Wall, Live Earth founder and producer, in a statement. “Our relationship with eBay connects us with its online community of millions and ensures that both original ticket sales and online resales support The Alliance for Climate Protection.”

“eBay is proud to support Live Earth, a groundbreaking event to support a vital cause,” said Gary Briggs, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, eBay.com. “By tapping into the power of the eBay community, we believe we can extend the impact of the event as well as funds raised for The Alliance for Climate Protection.”

“Every person who buys a ticket on eBay not only will have a much coveted ticket to a great concert, but will be making an important contribution to an unprecedented campaign to engage people from all walks of life in this urgent cause,” said Cathy Zoi, CEO of The Alliance for Climate Protection.

The U.S. Live Earth concert will feature AFI, Akon, Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, KT Tunstall, Ludacris, Melissa Etheridge, Rihanna, Roger Waters, Sheryl Crow, Smashing Pumpkins and The Police. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
