LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Live Nation's Board of Directors has named Dr. John C. Malone as Interim Chairman of the Board effective immediately.
Barry Diller made his resignation official at a Board meeting on Thursday, and Dr. Malone agreed to serve in an interim capacity to permit the Board adequate time to select a new Chairman.
Rumors of Diller’s departure had been swirling for weeks before he officially stepped down. Diller directed the Ticketmaster-Live Nation merger in January, however he and Malone had conflicting ideas on the direction of the new company according to mediabistro.com.
