Paul McCartney launches his first tour in nearly 10 years in April on the West Coast, he told NFL broadcaster Terry Bradshaw at Super Bowl XXXVI.
His short, 14-city "Drivin' USA" tour kicks off in early April in California and winds down in New York at the end of the month. He will play one Canadian date.
According to McCartney's camp, the concerts will be unlike anything he has staged before.
A European tour of at least five countries will follow in May.
"Drivin' USA" will take Paul McCartney's lifelong tally of live concerts to more than 1,700, approximately 1,400 with The Beatles, 142 with Wings and 195 as a solo artist, the most recent being The Concert For New York City at Madison Square Garden last October.
There is speculation that Clear Channel will produce the tour. However, according to a CCE spokesperson, "Nothing is confirmed and we are unable to comment."
Agent Barrie Marshall, of Marshall Arts Ltd., located in London, will coordinate all aspects of McCartney's worldwide tour.
