OSHAWA, Ontario (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) has requested that the City of Oshawa release them from their contract to manage the General Motors Centre in the city and after a closed-door session, the city council has agreed to their request.
"We decided after two years at it, that this is no longer a strategic focus for us," said Bob Hunter, MLSE's executive vice president of venues and entertainment said in a statement.
Global Spectrum has been named to replace MLSE and events already booked for the 5,500 capacity venue will continue as planned.
The Centre plays home to the Oshawa Generals, a Ontario League Hockey Team as well as numerous concerts and public events. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
