'Nashville' Headed To CMT For Season 5

NASHVILLE (CelebrityAccess) — The television series Nashville has a new lease on life after CMT announced that the show will see a 5th season on their network.

“CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for ‘Nashville’ has been overwhelming,” said Brian Philips, President of CMT. “‘Nashville’ is a perfect addition to our evolving line-up of big music specials, documentaries, and original series. We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. Nashville belongs on CMT.”

ABC announced in May that they had cancelled the scripted drama after a four-season run on the network.

The show, produced by Lionsgate, ABC Studios, and Opry Entertainment, debuted in 2012 and stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere as country music performers in various stages of their career.

While ratings for the program had been soft in recent seasons, ABC had used the show as vehicle for numerous albums and television specials. The show also reportedly did well with the DVR set and scored particularly well with with women in the key 18-34 demographic.
