HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (CelebrityAccess) — An former school building in Huntsville may soon host a pair of new craft beer breweries and a new concert venue, if city officials get their way.
According to Alabama Media Group, Huntsville Board of Education signed off on plans to sell the Stone Middle building to developer Randy Schrimsher, who already owns part of the school grounds.
Schrimsher plans to convert part of the building into a 40,000-square-foot brewery for Straight to Ale, and brewer Yellowhammer plans to build a new, 6,000-foot brewery, along with public amenities such as a beer garden and a tasting room.
The two breweries will bracket what the city hopes will be a large amphitheater for live entertainament.
"This is an exciting, game-changing redevelopment for West Huntsville and the city's western gateway into downtown from I-565," Downtown Huntsville Inc. CEO Chad Emerson told Alabama Media Group.
