One Dead, Seven Injured In Missouri Nightclub Shooting

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (CelebrityAccess) — One man is dead and five more were left injured in the wake of a shooting outside of a nightclub in rural Missouri on Sunday morning.

According to ABC News, the shooting occurred at 3:50 a.m. on Sunday outside of Club Envy in Caruthersville, a small town in the northeast corner of Missouri.

Six of the victims, including the slain man, were shot, with two people in critical condition. Three others are in stable condition. One man was treated for cuts and bruises when he ran into or was thrown through a window, ABC reported.

A spokesman for the Missouri State Highway Patrol told ABC that investigators believe the shooter was acquainted with the victims, but that people involved in the incident have not been forthcoming with information about the shooting.

"We're trying to piece everything together but apparently as they were trying to get people out of the club, someone in the parking lot fired a weapon," Sgt. Steve Parrott told ABC.

ABC reported that the club had been rented for a private event, with approximately 300 people in attendance. Two people are in custody following the shooting, but police have yet to file charges.

Six men were shot. One died at a hospital in nearby Hayti, Missouri, about seven hours after the shooting. Two people were flown to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, in critical condition. Three others are in stable condition at the Hayti hospital. – Staff Writers
