SONOMA CA (CelebrityAccess) — Racetrack operator Speedway Motorsports, which operates a chain of race tracks across the U.S., is looking at launching a series of music festivals.
According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, Sonoma Speedway, operated by Speedway Motorsports, has filed an application with the city of Sonoma for a annual four-day music event to be held at the 1,600-acre grounds, starting as soon as 2017.
The Index-Tribune reports that the racetrack operator has been considering music festivals for some time, but made the move after Sonoma Raceway’s President and General Manager Steve Page assembled a package of sponsors and music industry professionals to produce the event.
“There are eight race tracks in the corporation over all,” Page told the newspaper, “and we’re looking at a branded music festival at up to five of them. Each will be very localized in look, food and beverage, music and the musical acts. This [The Sonoma Festival] will be a ‘Sonoma-esque’ event.” – Staff Writers
