BARCELONA, Spain (CelebrityAccess) — Spain's EDM-focused Sónar festival brand announced that they are expanding to South America with the addition of two new festivals through partnerships with local promoters.
The new festival dates include Santiago, Chile on December 5th and Bogota, Colombia on December 7th. These dates will be in addition to existing Sónar São Paulo and Sónar Buenos Aires festivals.
The festival continues to establish itself in northern Europe as well, with the 4th Sónar Reykjavik, the 2nd Sónar Copenhagen and the 3rd Sónar Stockholm events set for early next year.
The Chemical Brothers, Hot Chip, Brodinski and Evian Christ are the first names to be announced for all South American dates, while Recondite, Bomba Estéreo and Pional will perform at some South American events. Additional lineup announces are expected.
"There has always been an interest from Sónar in what is going on in South America," Sónar executive director Ventura Barba told Billboard. "Put that together with the booming of both music festivals and interest in electronic music in South America, and it makes sense for us to establish our festivals there." – Staff Writers
