Underwood Bolsters Ottawa Sens' Charity

OTTAWA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Singer Carrie Underwood stole the show with an appearance at the 2010 Bell Sens Soirée fundraiser on January 25th. The fundraiser, staged by the Ottawa Senators Hockey team was designed to raise money for four local hospital foundations.

Underwood and her new husband, hockey player Mike Fisher, took a turn on the red carpet to much applause and served for a time as celebrity blackjack dealers, the Ottawa Citizen reported.

Underwood didn't perform at the event however and entertainment was provided by aerial dance circus A2 D2 and Juno award winner Bob DeAngeles, with his band Music Spectrum. Tickets to the event went for $450 for individuals or $4,000 for a table of ten.

Organizers for the gala reported that they raised $325,000 in support of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, CSSS de Gatineau, Royal Ottawa Hospital, Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa Rotary Home and Roger’s House.

"I would like to thank our sponsors, table purchasers, volunteers and guests for making this evening a huge success," said Sens Foundation president Danielle Robinson. "The foundation is proud and honoured to work with so many great people to make available the region’s quality healthcare services to the youth and children of our community." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
