LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) The arena proposed by Las Vegas Sands and Madison Square Garden is expected to be unveiled soon, according to the Sands Corp.
During the company’s fourth-quarter earnings conference call Jan. 24, Sands Corp. representatives said the project, to be built behind its Venetian and Palazzo properties, is on track to begin construction this summer, and plans will be unveiled soon, according to the Las Vegas Sun. In attendance should be Madison Square Garden Entertainment’s Irving Azoff and James Dolan, along with Tim Leiweke of the Oak View Group, which is inextricably tied to MSG through Azoff, a major investor in OVG.
“You’re going to see something that’s pretty spectacular and I know our neighbors across the street, the Wynn, got to see it and it looks extraordinary,” Robert Goldstein, president and of Las Vegas Sands.
Construction on the 18,500-capacity building is expected to wrap in 2020.
“It’s a great place to live and work. The growth is returning around Las Vegas – it’s more of a lodging-based market than it’s been in the past,” Goldstein added. “The Golden Knights have done extraordinarily well and the hockey has been terrific, football is coming, why not.”
