MINNESOTA (CelebrityAccess) – Prince fans are set to celebrate the late music legend’s 60th birthday later this week with a music festival in Minnesota.
The three-day event, which kicks off on June 7th and is being organized by fans from Mankato, Maryland and New York, is being held in the community where Prince’s iconic film Purple Rain was filmed.
The festival will include a bus tour of Purple Rain filming locations, a screening of the 1984 movie, live music, and an honorary butterfly release. Fans from around the world have also helped to pay for a bench, street sign, and a mural to be painted by New York portrait artist Moises Suriel that will be permanently installed downtown and dedicated during the celebration.
All festival activities are free, but a donation to the Prince mural is requested. Members of Prince’s family will also reportedly be present.
