Report: Promoters Still Seeking Refunds From Shows Phil Rudd Canceled In 2017

(CelebrityAccess) — IQ Magazine is reporting that several promoters across Europe claim they are owed thousands of dollars in deposits after former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd canceled a series of shows in the UK and Europe last year.

Rudd was slated to tour the continent and successfully performed a series of shows in the first half of 2017, but starting in May, he began to postpone dates in the UK, “citing technical and logistical issues.”

He subsequently canceled a series of European dates which had been planned for May and June, citing the same set of challenges.

According to IQ, promoters for the shows claim they have yet to have their deposits refunded. One Spanish promoter told the publication that Wave 365 Media, which was managing the tour for Rudd, currently holds at least €20,000 in non-refunded deposits from Spain alone, IQ reported.

A Slovakian promoter, who had Rudd booked for a date in that nation, claims that Wave 365 Media’s Alan Bellman, had double-booked Rudd for a show in Spain on the same date.

IQ also reported that a Croation promoter, who did not provide a name, recounted his experience of renting rehearsal space for Rudd’s band, only to have the concert canceled. The Croation reporter told IQ that while he did receive a refund for his deposit, he was not reimbursed for money spent promoting the show, or for the expense of the rehearsal space.

In a statement to IQ, Rudd’s agent, Ian Smith of Fizzion/Frusion said that all parties “feel badly let down by these cancellations and associated problems not of their making, especially having successfully completed a two-month tour in early 2017” but noted that they did not have any options but to cooperate when Bellman decided it was necessary to cancel the tour.
