AMSTERDAM, NL (CelebrityAccess) — Mariana Sanchotene has been appointed as the new Director of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) foundation, which oversees one of the biggest electronic music festivals and conferences in Europe.
Sanchotene, who officially starts her new gig on October 1st, will step in for to the role being vacated by Richard Zijlma.
However, Zijlma, with Buma Cultuur director Frank Helmink, will oversee this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, which takes place from October 17th – 21st.
Sanchotene assumes her new post as the ADE Foundation transitions away from Buma Cultuur, a non-profit which supports Dutch music, into an independent organization. The ADE Foundation has been part Buma Cultuur since ADE’s inception in 1995.
Willemijn Maas, former Director of AVRO and currently an independent consultant and supervisor, will become the Chairman of the independent foundation’s Supervisory Board. The remaining members of the Supervisory Board are currently being recruited.
The step towards independence, Mariana’s start as Director and Willemijn’s start as Chairman, all contribute to the reinforcement and sustainability of ADE as the world’s most important event for electronic music. We are confident that with Mariana Sanchotene at the helm the Amsterdam Dance Event will remain as such,” said Buma Cultuur Director Frank Helmink.
Mariana Sanchotene has been a key figure in the European dance music scene since 2008 when she joined Dutch promoter ID&T. She has overseen the expansion of the Sensation, Mysteryland and Q-dance events and participated in the M&A team when SFX acquired ID&T in 2013. Since then, she supported the international tours of other SfX events as Unite, Electric Zoo, Awakenings and Life in Color, as well as the international expansion of Paylogic and Headliner Entertainment.
