(CelebrityAccess) – Island Records has promoted Eric Wong to chief operating officer.
Wong, who joined IDJ back in 1999 and has served as executive vp/general manager at the label since 2014, has overseen a number of album rollouts for global acts including Shawn Mendes, Fall Out Boy, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, the Killers and Mike Posner.
Prior to that, Wong held positions at Sean Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment and WMG’s Atlantic Records. He also founded his own company, Wong Management, which worked with Mariah Carey.
Commenting on the promotion, Island president Darcus Beese said: “He brings a world of experience to every endeavor and has nurtured strong relationships with our artists and their management teams.”
Wong added: “I am extremely proud of the confidence that Darcus Beese has shown in me. Island has been my heart and home for the better part of two decades now, and I am excited to step into this role keeping the label and its artists at the forefront.”
