DETROIT (CelebrityAccess) — Rapper Eminem has bought all of the tickets for a movie theater in his hometown of Detroit and is giving them away to promote a movie he produced.
As reported by the Detroit Free Press, Em wrote in a post on his social media that tickets to Friday’s and Saturday’s 6:40 p.m. showing at the AMC 30 in Sterling Heights of “Bodied” on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The film is a satirical comedy that stars Calum Worthy as Adam Merkin, a progressive-minded grad student who finds success but sparks controversy when his interest in battle rap as a thesis subject turns into a competitive obsession.
Directed by Joseph Kahn, who previously was best known for music videos, “Bodied” was produced by Eminem, his manager Paul Rosenberg, and Adi Shankar. When the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017, it won the People’s Choice Award: Midnight Madness and was later picked up for YouTube for exclusive streaming starting in late 2018.
On Friday, “Bodied” also started a limited run in theaters around the U.S.
