UNITED KINGDOM (CelebrityAccess) John Lewis & Partners, a chain of high-end departments stores throughout the U.K., Ireland and Australia, is known for its holiday advertisements. This time, it has decided to do a quick retrospective on Elton John’s career and life, and do so successfully in just a minute.
Ad agency adam&eveDDB, which is responsible for John Lewis holiday ads featuring “Monty The Penguin,” takes the 71-year-old John from a piano in a room to his earlier life without the help of CGI: Five actors were used to portray the singer.
“We’ve been doing John Lewis Christmas ads for some time now,” Craig Inglis, customer director at John Lewis and Partners, told The Guardian, “and what’s on my mind is how we move it on creatively but hold on to the heart of what makes them special.
Some viewers have already suggested the ad is a cross-promotion for not only John’s farewell tour but possibly the upcoming movie “Rocketman” and, to their argument, the commercial does look similar to the trailer.
