LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Ken Berry, 85, known for his performances on television’s “F-Troop,” “Mayberry R.F.D.,” and “The Carol Burnett Show” where he played a significant role in the recurring skit that led to the television series “Mama’s Family,” died Nov. 1, according to an announcement from actor Larry Storch.

Berry was known for playing Captain Parementer on the Western sitcom “F-Troop” as well as Sam Jones on “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Mayberry R.F.D.,” and Vinton Harper on “Mama’s Family.” He also had roles in movies like “Herbie Rides Again” and appearances on shows like “The Golden Girls,” “The Love Boat,” “The Bob Newhart Show,” “The Donny & Marie Show,” “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour,” and “Fantasy Island.”

Berry performed in the U.S. Army special services under his sergeant, Leonard Nimoy, who introduced him to various studios, according to Variety. The stint also landed him a role on the “Ed Sullivan Show.” Under contract with Universal, Berry worked with acts like Abbot and Costello and Lucille Ball, plus Burnett, which led to his frequent appearances on her show.
