CHARLOTTE, NC (CelebrityAccess) — A couple from Charlotte, North Carolina, who had been scammed with fake tickets to a Dave Chappelle show, were presented with tickets to the performance by the comedian himself.
According to CBS affiliate WBTV, Deidra and Eddie Dickens attempted to purchase tickets for Chappelle’s February 14th show at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center from Craigslist. The couple was hoping to attend the show with friends, and Deirdra paid extra for tickets located near the end of the row to accommodate her husband, who is often required to use a wheelchair.
However, after spending $500 dollars for the tickets, they proved to be fake.
The couple decided to make the best of their evening and went to dinner at a restaurant near the venue anyway. They were surprised in mid-meal by Dave Chappelle, who hand-delivered new tickets to the couple.
“Always get your tickets from reliable sources,” Chappelle said as he walked up to their table after tracking the pair down with assistance from WBTV.
“Holy moly. Dave Chappelle handing us tickets to the show. I cannot even describe how I’m feeling right now,” said Deidra Dickens during the encounter.
