Alamo/Interscope recording artist Lil Durk has reportedly been arrested in connection with a shooting outside of an Atlanta nightclub earlier this year.
According to local media sources, including WSB-TV, the Chicago-based rapper turned himself into police on Thursday night and has been booked on charges ranging from attempted murder, and aggravated assault to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charges stem from a shooting outside of Atlanta club The Varsity in February that left one victim in serious condition.
Hours before he surrendered himself to police, Lil Durk released a song on YouTube called ‘Turn Myself In’ in which he maintained his innocence and said he was the victim of false accusations.
Durk, whose real name is Durk Derrick Banks, first began to gain traction for his music career in 2011 on the strength of a series of mixtapes that led to him signing a joint venture for his Only the Family and Def Jam Recordings.
His debut LP Remember My Name, landed at #2 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #14 on the Billboard 200. His 2016 follow-up, Lil Durk 2X, also charted on the Billboard 200, peaking at 29.
Last summer, he announced he had signed with Alamo/Interscope ahead of the release of his third studio album Signed to the Streets 3 in November.
