TINLEY PARK, IL (CelebrityAccess) — Turns out trying to take a selfie with former Rage Against the Machine frontman Tom Morello isn’t a great idea.
One fan found that out the hard way during 101WKQZ’s Piqniq music fest at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Tinley Park, IL.
At the end of his performance, Morello invited members of the audience on stage and one fan, standing close to Morello, attempted to snap a selfie of himself and the rocker.
Morello paused in the middle of a guitar solo to snatch the phone from said fan’s hand and toss it afield into the audience.
Morello later retweeted a fan-captured video of the moment, adding, “Put a phone in my face onstage and I’ll throw it. #LiveInTheMoment.”
As of yet, Morello has not been charged in connection with the incident. In many jurisdictions in the U.S., grabbing something out of someone else’s hands constitutes assault and battery. It is unclear if the fan recovered his mobile device.
