CUPERTINO, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Apple Music revealed this week that it has officially as more than 60 million subscribers.
The news, first reported by French tech/culture news site Numerama, initially reported that Apple’s subscription count was paying subscribers, but Apple has since clarified that figure, noting that the 60 million includes users on a free trial.
Apple also touted their Beats 1 digital radio service, which they said now has tens of millions of listeners.
The glimpse into Apple’s streaming platform’s statistics first since last December, when the Financial Times reported that the streaming music service had 56m subscribers, inclusive of both paid users and free trials.
While Apple appears to be making headway in expanding its user base, the company still lags behind their rival Spotify, who, as part of their first quarter financial reporting in April, said more than 100 million paying subscribers are enrolled in the service.
