MINNEAPOLIS (CelebrityAccess) – The Prince estate has blasted Donald Trump after “Purple Rain” was reportedly played without consent during a rally in the late icon’s hometown of Minnesota on Thursday.

The incident is not the President’s first run-in with the Prince estate. Nearly one year ago to the day, the Trump campaign agreed “not use Prince’s music in connection with its activities going forward.”

Soon after the rally took place, Prince’s official Twitter account responded saying: “President Trump played Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ tonight at a campaign event in Minneapolis despite confirming a year ago that the campaign would not use Prince’s music. The Prince Estate will never give permission to President Trump to use Prince’s songs.”

The Prince estate’s tweet also contained a photo of a letter dated October 15, 2018, confirming that the Trump campaign was in breach of a previous agreement not to use the singer’s music.
