NEW ORLEANS (CelebrityAccess) A partial collapse at the under-construction Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans on Saturday left 2 dead and dozens injured.
According to the New Orleans, the upper floors of the hotel construction site, which is located at the corner of Canal and North Rampart streets, partially collapsed on Saturday morning at about 9:10 AM.
Rescuers have located the body of one of the victims, and a search is still underway for a second, while a third worker remains missing as of Sunday afternoon, the Times-Picayune reported.
The streets around the construction site remained closed while city officials assess the damage and nearby buildings have been evacuated over continuing concerns about the structure and a construction crane.
As of yet, officials have not identified what caused the building to collapse.
The Saenger Theatre, which is next door to the Hard Rock, announced that it has canceled upcoming performances of the touring Broadway production ‘Wicked’ through October 20th.
Due to the ongoing situation at the Hard Rock Hotel, all remaining performances of WICKED, from Oct. 12-20, have been cancelled. All ticketholders will be refunded through their original point of purchase.
