LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has officially dropped charges in a sexual assault investigation of actor Kevin Spacey after his accuser died.
The accuser, who was never publicly identified, filed suit against Spacey, alleging that the actor forced him to grab Spacey’s genitals during a massage session in Malibu in 2016.
In addition to the civil lawsuit, the accuser also took their claim to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department who later referred the matter to the D.A.’s office in July 2018.
According to the Associated Press, the District Attorney’s office stated that the allegations against Spacey could not be proven without the masseur’s participation.
A source told Variety that the accuser died of cancer.
In July, prosecutors in Massachusetts dropped criminal charges against Spacey after he was accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old man at a bar on Nantucket in 2016. Prosecutors dropped the case after Spacey’s accuser invoked his Fifth Amendment right not to testify about text messages with Spacey on the night of the alleged assault.
