(CelebrityAccess) — A Ph.D. student who creates YouTube content for the channel Data Is Beautiful has compiled an animated chart showing the best-selling artists of all time for the past four decades.
The fascinating data dive shows the early dominance of acts such as The Beatles and the Eagles, who are then topped by artists such as Madonna and Michael Jackson before the modern era which is ruled by the likes of Drake, and Taylor Swift.
According to the author, the data used in the chart uses worldwide sales and is adjusted to twelve months trailing average.
The compiler included data from the RIAA, IFPI, and record companies as sources and for recent years, digital sales as reported by online music retailers and streaming services.
