BALTIMORE, MD (CelebrityAccess) — Venue management service ASM Global announced the signing of a five-year agreement with the Lyric Foundation for management of the Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric in Baltimore.
“We are excited to welcome the Lyric to the ASM Global family of performing arts centers,” said Bob Newman, President and CEO of ASM Global. “We have a long and successful history in Baltimore at the Royal Farms Arena and more recently at MECU Pavilion. The Lyric further expands our portfolio in the region and compliments the other two facilities, enabling us to better serve our patrons, promoters and partners in the area.”
The Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric is a not-for-profit facility that hosts music, comedy, dance, theatrical, and community events.
The 2,500-capacity performing arts center was constructed in 1894 and served as the home for the Baltimore Opera company until its dissolution in 2009 and as a touring stage for New York’s Metropolitan Opera.
Since 2011, the Modell has been the home of the Lyric Opera Baltimore company.
ASM Global announced that the first show presented at the Modell under the terms of the new deal will be two performances by Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band on June 16 & 17, 2020.
“We are happy that our first booking at the Lyric is Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band,” said Bob Papke, Vice President of Theaters for ASM Global. “The Modell Lyric is an incredible venue and we look forward to bringing a variety of artists and attractions to the theater.”
