HOLLYWOOD (CelebrityAccess) – The 2019 American Music Awards (AMA) broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday (Nov. 24), with all of the biggest stars in music in attendance.

Going into the evening, Post Malone was this year’s most-nominated artist with seven nods – he took home one award for Favorite Album – Rap/Hip Hop. Six-time nominee Billie Eilish won two awards including Favorite Artist – Alternative Rock and New Artist of the Year. Carrie Underwood and Dan + Shay also took home two awards each. Meanwhile, Lil Nas X, who had five nods, took home the award for Favorite Song – Rap/Hip Hop.

Performers included Lizzo, Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Post Malone feat. Ozzy Osbourne, the Jonas Brothers, Green Day, Kesha feat. Big Freedia, Toni Braxton, Travis Scott and WATT, Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World, Thomas Rhett and Shania Twain. A handful of last night’s performances including Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now,” Lizzo’s “Jerome,” and Post Malone’s “Circles,” were presented in Dolby Atmos, an immersive surround sound audio format. The first-of-its-kind-live-in-venue experience was a collaboration between Dolby and dick clark productions (dcp).

But, without a doubt, the evening belonged to Artist of The Decade recipient Taylor Swift. In addition to winning five awards including Artist of the Year, Swift performed a much-anticipated medley of her early hits including “Shake It Off,” “Love Story,” “Blank Space,” and more.

The performance followed a very public dispute between Swift and her former label Big Machine Records, which played out online early last week. The singer initially accused label head Scooter Braun of blocking her from performing her pre-Lover era material, which is now owned by Big Machine, during the live TV event. The matter was reportedly later resolved.

Swift has now clocked a record-breaking total of 28 AMAs over the course of her career, officially beating out the late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s record of 24.
