BERLIN (CelebrityAccess) — German entertainment company Deutsche Entertainment Aktiengesellschaft (DEAG) announced it has taken a majority stake in Gigantic, one of the UK’s largest independent ticketing companies.

Founded in 2007, Gigantic flogs tickets for hundreds of events a year, including concerts by top tier talent such as Elton John, James Blunt, and Lana Del Rey and currently boasts around 2 million registered end-customers..

Following the acquisition, Gigantic will continue to operate as an independent company, with Mark Gasson and James Woodward remaining shareholders and continuing to oversee operations for the venture.

DEAG expects to find synergies with Gigantic’s ticketing platform and their own services MyTicket.co.uk and the MyTicket in Germany and Austria, the company said. According to DEAG, they hope to “at least double the tickets sold via its own platforms to well over 2 million” following the acquisition.

The Gigantic acquisition is the latest in a recent string of UK buys for DEAG that include Flying Music Group, and the Belladrum Festival in Scotland.
