WILTSHIRE, UK (CelebrityAccess) — Organizers of WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance), the long-running British world music festival, announced plans for a hiatus in 2025.
In a statement announcing the decision, WOMAD organizers noted that the event, like many festivals, has faced obstacles in the post-COVID era and promised that the event would return in 2026.
“WOMAD, like many festivals and events, has seen some challenges post covid and we are now engaged in the process of re-evaluating, regenerating and reinvigorating everything we do – and where we want to go in the future. We’re delighted to say we’ll be announcing our new plans over the next few weeks,” Organizers wrote in a post shared on the event’s website.
“To ensure that the festival can continue to thrive for years to come in our new location, we have decided to take a year off in 2025 before returning fully charged in 2026,” the post said.
According to WOMAD, the organization’s slate of other festivals around the world will be proceeding “full steam ahead” including WOMADelaide, WOMAD New Zealand and WOMAD Cáceres with plans for further events in Las Palmas, Brazil and Chile, as well as exploring a special UK event for 2025 in lieu of the festival.
Additionally, WOMAD announced plans to relocate their headquarters from their longtime home in Wiltshire to a new, nearby location but said they were not ready to share information about their new digs just yet.
