NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – Republic Records has named Kevin Lipson as its first-ever Chief Revenue Officer, a role where he will lead revenue strategies across Republic Corps Collective, which includes Republic Records, Mercury Records, Def Jam Recordings, and Island Records. The announcement was made on November 18 by Republic Corps President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jim Roppo.
In his new position, Lipson will manage a team responsible for various key areas including streaming, e-commerce, data analytics, retail partnerships, gaming, sports marketing, media planning, and catalog management. Additionally, he will drive innovative campaigns aimed at increasing audience engagement and revenue growth.
Roppo praised Lipson’s approach saying, “Kevin’s not only one of the most tenacious music executives in the business, but he’s also a true innovator at heart. With a fresh perspective, he’s constantly looking for unconventional ways to break new artists and maximize global repertoire revenue for our roster of superstars.”
Lipson brings nearly three decades of experience within Universal Music Group (UMG), having worked with top-tier artists such as Post Malone, The Weeknd, Metro Boomin, and Morgan Wallen during his time at Republic. His career includes roles at various UMG labels like Island Records, Def Jam, and Universal Music Group Distribution.
Reflecting on his new role, Lipson said, “Thanks to Jim, Republic Records CEO Monte [Lipman], and Republic Records President and COO Avery [Lipman], Republic truly operates as a family. They support their people here first—which inspires everybody to compete at the highest level while breaking historic industry records.”
This appointment follows other recent leadership moves within Republic Corps Collective, such as Mary Catherine Kinney’s promotion to Executive Vice President of Artist and Label Strategy, and the appointments of David Wolter and Miles Beard as Co-Heads of East and West Coast A&R earlier this year.
