LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Kobalt, the independent music publisher, announced the signing of a global publishing deal with Mexican folk star Kevin Kaarl.
Kaarl, who hails from Meoqui in northern Mexico, is only 24 but has already established himself in the Mexican folk scene with three successful albums and millions of streams.
In 2023, he was named Rolling Stone En Español’s inaugural Most Promising Artist of the Year. He is now putting the finishing touches on his fourth studio album, Ultra Sodade, which he says is inspired by the legendary Cape Verdean singer Cesária Évora.
The album is due in 2025, but the first single, “Esta Noche,” is already available on streaming platforms as a preview.
“Kevin Kaarl’s lyrics are not just words; he weaves the raw fabric of human experience into timeless melodies that heal, inspire, and transcend language barriers,” said Teresa Romo, Kobalt’s Senior Creative Director for Latin America. “I am truly fortunate to collaborate closely with such a remarkable artist, whose groundbreaking catalogue will flourish with Kobalt.”
“I’m very happy to begin working with Teresa, Nestor, and the global Kobalt family. I consider the work they are doing to champion songwriters to be incredibly important. I’m excited for this new chapter in my career and all we have coming,” Kaarl added.
