AGENCY & MANAGEMENT NEWS: Three Ex-Sanctuary Managers Form The Coalition & BSO Moves Offices

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A trio of managers, who represent Nelly, Eve, Fat Joe, Floetry and a list of other major hip-hop stars have reportedly left the ailing Sanctuary Group’s Urban Management division and set up shop as The Coalition.

Troy Carter, Tony Davis and Julius (Jay) Erving III, who were reportedly laid off by Sanctuary on November 11th, according to Variety, are launching the agency specializing in talent management, film production, television production and urban lifestyle marketing.

Their roster includes many other top artists, including Kelis, Lil' Wayne, Mario, Jazzy Pha, Tatyana Ali, Fam-Lay, Murphy Lee and the St. Lunatics.

Variety reports that The Coalition already has several television projects in production, including “Eve” on UPN, an untitled Fat Joe pilot at Fox, a Fox reality show based on the world of NBA wives called “Married to the Game,” and a reality show based on Nelly’s business ventures.

Carter, Davis and Erving were only 14 months into five-year contracts when they were fired from Sanctuary for “just cause.” Sanctuary never specified the exact reasons.

Carter, who is based in L.A., and Davis, in St. Louis, have been partners for seven years, working together to represent Eve and Floetry. Erving, based in Philadelphia, where his father, Dr. J, was a pro basketball superstar, partnered with Carter four years ago, according to the magazine. The three will maintain offices in each city.

“We gave our clients a heads up when we knew we would be forming (the Coalition),” Carter told Variety. “Several phone calls came in from some high-profile artists who said they would prefer to be with a boutique company.”
