Amazon To Carry UFC Pay-Per-View

SEATTLE, WA (CelebrityAccess) — Streaming contender Amazon continued to position itself as an option for cord-cutters announced that it has inked a deal with the UFC to sell pay-per-view packages of the organization’s upcoming fights.

According to CNBC, the deal includes this weekend’s UFC 22, which, until now, required a fan to pay for the PPV package through an existing relationship with cable or satellite providers, like Comcast or Dish Network, or via a cable channel like Fox Sports 1.

CNBC reported that the deal won’t be a perk for Amazon’s prime program and will be available to any customer for $64.99 to watch on any Amazon Prime video-capable device.

It’s the first time Amazon has sold a pay-per-view package for live sports and is an indicator of how valuable the company sees sports content to the success of its streaming platform. Last year, Amazon signed a $50 million, multi-year deal with the NFL to stream Thursday Night Football.

Amazon did not elaborate on the financial terms of their agreement with the UFC.
