ST. LOUIS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Singer Aretha Franklin, rock n' roller Chuck Berry and Comedian/late night television personality Jay Leno were on hand for the grand re-opening of the Peabody Opera House on October 1st.
The opening night gala served as a benefit for John L. Trotter Multiple Sclerosis Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine and drew a full house with 3,100 attendees.
The Peabody is fresh off of a 14-month, $79 million renovation that saw a number of upgrades at the opera house, including a brand new entrance. The Peabody's developers are Sports Capital Holdings-St. Louis, who also operate the Scottrade Center.
"What a magnificent, what a spectacular building we have," St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, said during the gala. "It's amazing what you can do with Spic and Span and $79 million." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
