MELBOURNE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The booker at at a Melbourne club refused to host the after party for a Lady Gaga Concert, honoring instead, a commitment with a local blues-rock band.
Gaga's entourage had been in negotiation with James Young, the booker for the 200 capacity nightclub Cherry, over holding the afterparty at the venue. However, negotiations broke down with Young insisted that Gaga's band needed to have the stage cleared by 9PM to make room for local blues-rockers Jackson Firebird while Gaga's crew wanted the stage for the entire night.
"We honour our existing bookings to local acts," Young told Australian news outlet The Age. "The firebird Cherry wants is Jackson Firebird, not Lady Gaga."
Gaga's entourage had developed a "great relationship" with Cherry over the course of previous tours, but ultimately held their afterparty at the nearby Northcote Social Club.
Subsequently, Young admitted that he was concerned he'd made a miss-step, particularly after being forwarded a photo of Gaga partying at the Northcote.
"[I] was gobsmacked and thunderstruck with the thought 'have I done the most stupid thing in Australian music?'" Young added. "But I'd rather be remembered as the person who wouldn't budge on an existing booking for a local band." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
