LANCASTER, NH (CelebrityAccess) — A tent collapse during a performance of the Walker Brothers Circus in Lancaster, New Hampshire, left a man and his daughter dead and dozens of people injured,
According to the Associated Press, the tent was occupied by approximately 100 people when it was hit by a storm with 60 mile-an-hour gusts and hail at around 5:30 p.m. Monday, just as the first of two shows scheduled for the day had begun.
Circus attendee Brandon Isham told Portland-based CBS affiliate WGME that the open flaps on the side of the tent, which were not secured, "started going crazy."
"Next thing you know, the wind picked up … and took the tent with it," Isham told WGME.
Safety officials in New Hampshire spent the night assessing the collapse and looking at how the tent was erected. The circus operator, Sarasota, Fla.-based Walker International Events, did not respond to a request for comment. – Staff Writers
