Coachella 2012 Grosses Over $47 Million

INDIO, CA (AP) — (VIP NEWS) — The numbers are finally in for the 2012 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which took place over two weekends for the first time this year, April 13-15 and April 20-21.

The festival sold out quickly back in January, and the numbers are predictably staggering: $47,313,403 in gross ticket sales and attendance of 158,387 for the two weekends combined, according to Billboard Boxscore.

That broke down to 80,726 tickets sold for the first weekend and 77,661 the second. The lineup, including headliners the Black Keys, Radiohead, and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg (with the memorable "appearance" of Tupac Shakur), was exactly the same for both weekends, a remarkable achievement in itself.

The following weekend the host site Empire Polo Grounds showcased the Stagecoach country festival, with headliners Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton and Alabama, April 27-29. The gross for Stagecoach was $13,043,515, with attendance of 55,772 each of the three days, according to Boxscore.

Both Coachella and Stagecoach are produced by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Live. According to Billboard
