INDIO, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Tech-savvy festival fans used electronic tracking to solve a rash of cellphone thefts at this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
According to the Los Angeles Times, after cellphones started disappearing during the festival, some users activated their 'find my iPhone' app, which uses location data to help an owner pin down the location of their wayward phones.
The fans then used the real time tracking system to follow their suspect around the festival until festival security could detain him. According to the Times, police arrested the man, 36-year-old Reinaldo De Jesus Henao, after they allegedly found more than 100 phones in his backpack.
Henao was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and possession of stolen property, police said.
Several phones were returned, and others left at the festival's lost and found, the Times reported. – Staff Writers
