Def Jam Reboots Mercury Records

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Iconic record label Mercury Records will be re-launched as an imprint under the aegis of Island Def Jam Music Group according to Variety.

David Massey, who has served as executive Vice President at Sony Music since 2004 will oversee operations at the new label which will be based out of New York.

First founded in 1945, the label was a major force in the development of jazz, blues, country music and rock and has been home to a diverse group of artists, including Mark Knopfler, The Killers, Pete Tong, Roy Orbison and Elton John. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
