Delsener Produces Lenny Bruce Play Off-Broadway

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Ron Delsener and Marvin Worth Productions are presenting "Lenny Bruce…In His Own Words" starring Jason Fisher in New York at the Zipper Theatre direct from a critically-acclaimed, sold-out engagement in Los Angeles. The Off-Broadway, limited engagement opened on January 30 and runs through February 25. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Bruce's death; Bruce would have been 80 this year.

The New York premiere of "Lenny Bruce…In His Own Words" was created verbatim from the controversial satirist's most unforgettable routines and language used in his nightclub acts in 1964, for which he served time in jail for obscenity charges. Bruce died "a convicted man," and was, in fact, pardoned posthumously by New York Governor George Pataki in 2003, the first person in New York state history to receive a posthumous pardon.

The play is written and directed by Joan Worth and Alan Sacks and presented by Delsener and Marvin Worth Productions. The late Marvin Worth produced Tom O'Horgan's smash hit "Lenny" on Broadway and the 1974 Bob Fosse film. The 70-minute rapid-fire material has been deemed X-Rated. — Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
