LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has again broken Spotify streaming records after his latest album Divide debuted on Friday.
According to the streaming music service, Divide topped list for first day streams for an album with 56,727,861 streams, more than doubling the count of previous record holder The Weeknd, whose album Starboy notched up 29 million when it debuted last year.
Sheeran also took the record for highest one-day stream for a song with his hit "Shape of You" which added 10,123,630 listens, almost doubling the previous record holder which was the same song by Ed Sheeran when it debuted in January.
All told, Sheeran is also Spotify’s most-streamed single-day artist after his music repertoire was streamed 68,695,172 times on Friday.
All 16 tracks off of Divide made it into the Spotify Global Top 50 chart, driven in part by international listening. – Staff Writers
