Eminem's Down Under Trip Still Sparks Controversy

The controversy over Eminem's upcoming Australia dates — July 26 in Melbourne and July 27 in Sydney — continues. Even promoter Michael Gudinski said he wouldn't let his daughter see the show, the Herald Sun reports. Gudinski says people who don't like the music shouldn't go to the show.

Queensland Liberal MP Peter Slipper stepped up his anti-Eminem campaign by protest letters to both Immigration Minister Philip Ruddock and Prime Minister John Howard.

Ruddock warned a visa for someone who sings about slaughtering a pregnant girlfriend could take weeks to process and Howard said his music was sickening, suggesting it might be time for "fuddy duddies" to take a stand, according to the paper.

Eminem falls under the Controversial Visa Applicants Category, so a wide variety of information will be assessed, including his criminal convictions. Ruddock's spokesman Steve Ingram said Eminem's application "will be processed in the normal way." The application was faxed to the Australian embassy in Washington on July 4.
